The desire to teach and mentor drew me to pursue a doctorate in sociology as much as the desire to conduct my own research. At UCLA, I have worked as the Instructor of Record and Teaching Assistant for over ten courses, in a broad range of subjects. I served as the graduate student liaison to the Undergraduate Sociology Association, currently mentor for the Sociology Honors Program, and I trained several undergraduate research assistants. The UCLA department of sociology awarded me the excellence in teaching award for four years running.
